Comptroller Oshoba Seeks Royal Backing to Drive CGC’s Stakeholder Collaboration Agenda
The Customs Area Controller in charge of Apapa Area Command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, has paid a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu I, to seek royal blessings and support towards achieving the Service’s mandate.
Speaking during the visit to the Palace on Wednesday, 15 October 2025, Comptroller Oshoba said the engagement was in line with the policy thrust of the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, which emphasises robust stakeholder collaboration.
“In modern integrated border management, we acknowledge the role of stakeholders. This is why it is essential to consistently engage the local community to achieve success. As officers, we need their buy-in because our activities are in their domain and we must pay respect to the influential owners of the land,” he said.
He described the Oba of Lagos as a revered and influential leader whose guidance continues to promote harmony and mutual respect between government agencies and the communities they serve.
In his remarks, Oba Akiolu commended the Area Controller and his team for their professionalism and commitment to duty. “I want you to do your job diligently, by virtue of your work, many will come to you, but do not compromise and remain truthful and upright,” he advised.
The monarch pledged his full support to the CAC and assured him of the palace’s continued cooperation in ensuring peace and smooth operations within the community.
