Cooperate With Us – Olukoyede Urges Youths in Southeast
The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has called on youths in the Southeast to assist the Commission in ridding the region of all forms of corruption, economic and financial crimes, adding that without the youths, the future is not assured.
He made this call in Enugu on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC Conference 2025.
Speaking on the theme “The Police and The Youth, Bridging The Gap”, Olukoyede, who was represented by the Acting Zonal Director, Enugu Zonal Directorate of the EFCC, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Aisha Abubakar, said that the Commission’s aim is to sanitize the Southeast and enable the youths to achieve their future endeavours.
“The EFCC is here to enable the youths and help them re-align with their future endeavours because, without them, our tomorrow is not assured. We need the youths to hand over to, but they must have integrity, knowledgeable and willing to impact on the community. We are determined to turn the fortunes of the Southeast completely around, in relation to the fight against economic and financial crimes.
While calling on the youths to support the anti-graft agency especially in the area of intelligence sharing, the Executive Chairman said that the EFCC is not just about service delivery and dignity, “we are resilient and always insist that the right thing is done against all odds. Please cooperate with us. We are not your enemies, we are your friends. We are here to protect you and to serve you”, he said.
He thereafter enjoined the youths to take advantage of the Eagle Eye App by downloading it and reporting fraudulent activities around them.
Earlier during his opening remarks, Martins Chiedozie Ugwu, PCRC Coordinator, Enugu State Youth Committee said that the essence of the conference was to bring together, village and community youth leaders, leaders from notable youth organizations in the southeast and security agencies to address concerns and find solutions to issues affecting the relationship between the youth and law enforcement agencies.
“We aim to empower our youths to see law enforcement agencies as partners in progress, guardians of their lives and properties as we aim to create a society where every youth feels safe, heard and valued, not oppressed and suppressed”, he said.
