Embattled former Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, has been granted bail in the sum of N2 billion.
While delivering judgement on Badeh’s bail application today, March 10, Justice Okon Abang of the a Federal high court sitting in Abuja, said he must also provide two sureties in the sum of N1 billion each. and they must reside in Abuja.
He also ordered the former military chief to deposit his passport at the court.
Badeh is facing trial for the misappropriation of N1.1 billion meant for the Nigeria Airforce and also for being involved in the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal.
The EFCC had at the Thursday hearing urged the court not to grant Badeh bail, saying that he might escape.
The anti-graft agency also insisted that it found a cash sum of $1 million in the bedroom of a mansion owned by the former Chief of Defence Staff.
