
Courtesy Visit To The Executive Governor Of Borno State By The Chief Of Naval Staff
On Thursday, 1 January 2026, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas (Admiralty Medal) paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Unara Zulum at the Government House Maiduguri.
In his remarks, the CNS thanked the Governor for his warm reception and explained that he was in the state to assess the operational readiness of NN personnel deployed within Operation HADIN KAI Theatre of Operations and at the Naval Base Lake Chad (NBLC), Baga. The CNS also used the opportunity to thank His Excellency for his immense and consistent support to the Armed Forces in the fight against terrorism. Specifically, the CNS expressed gratitude to the Governor for providing the swamp buggies which were being used by NBLC to clear the waterways to revive economic activities.
The Governor responded by congratulating the CNS on his appointment and praying that the ALMIGHTY gives him the needed wisdom and impetus to confront the current security challenges. He thanked the CNS for the courtesy call and commended him for prioritizing the operations visit to Baga. According to Governor Zulum, this operations visit would give the CNS a first-hand knowledge of the Area of Operations, terrain, threats, gaps and challenges. His Excellency also commended the officers and men of NBLC noting that the Commander, Commodore Peter Yilme was doing an excellent work securing the area.
