CSR: Total Energies Inaugurates Project In Port Harcourt Barracks

The TotalEnergies Exploration and Production (E&P) has conducted a ground breaking and foundation laying ceremony for the construction of a hospital ward, consisting of male, female and children’s wards to support the existing structures at the 6 Division Medical Services and Hospital (DMSH), Port Harcourt Barracks. This initiative is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA).

The project was inaugurated by the Deputy Managing Director (DMD), Joint Ventures Asset, TotalEnergies E and P, Mr Guillaume Dulout, who on behalf of the company appreciated all the efforts and selfless sacrifices being made by the NA in ensuring that all and sundry go about their daily activities freely. He added that the least they can do as a company is to give back a little to say thank you to the NA.

Mr Guillaume used the medium to condole with the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Jamal Abdussalam, 6 Division and indeed the entire NA over the gruesome murder of 17 officers and soldiers at Okuama in Delta State, adding that it was barbaric and most unfortunate.

He also acknowledged the fact that the NA had come a very long way with TotalEnergies in partnership. He pledged the continuous, unalloyed partnership and support in any way possible to make the health and living condition of troops of the Division better.

Earlier the GOC, Major General Jamal Abdussalam while welcoming the DMD and his team, appreciated them for considering it wise to undertake CSR in 6 Division, which he said remains part of the company’s host communities. The construction of a hospital ward at the 6 Division is highly commendable. Major General Abdussalam recalled when he made the request when the DMD paid him a courtesy visit at his office. He expressed happiness that the request had become a reality, stressing that it shows how committed the company has always been towards ensuring the safety of lives, concern for education, and economic empowerment of their host communities.

Major General Abdussalam further reiterated that the collaboration and partnership that exists between the Division and TotalEnergies has been mutual with the highest respect. He added that 6 Division NA has continually worked and will continue to work within the laid down mandate in providing a safe and secured environment for Nigerians to conduct their activities seamlessly.

Highpoints of the event were the foundation laying ceremony, presentation of souvenirs, group photographs, and tree planting at 6 Division biodiversity sites.
