CULT CLASH IN IJANIKIN: POLICE ARREST TWO SUSPECTS, RECOVER WEAPONS AND AMMUNITION

The Lagos State police command has arrested two suspected cultists at Oto Awori, Ijanikin Area of Lagos State.

The suspects,Taiye Israel, and Isiaka Afeez, were arrested around 11am on Sunday July 25 after security operatives attached to the Ijanikin Division responded swiftly to a distress call that two heavily armed cult groups were unleashing mayhem on residents along Oto Awori Ijanikin Expressway by Ile Oba Bus Stop.

Due to the prompt intervention of the police, the suspects were apprehended and normalcy was immediately restored to the area. No casualties were recorded during the incident too.

Arms recovered from them include one axe, some cutlasses, assorted charms and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.

CP Hakeem Odumosu, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police has ordered that the suspects be transferred to the Command’s Strike Team, Ikeja, for proper investigation and possible arrest of other members of the gangs.

The Police boss, who deployed more security operatives to raid the blackspots and hideouts of the fleeing criminals with a view of arresting them, added that cultists and all hoodlums inflicting pain and causing crisis should stay clear of Lagos State.

Recall that CP Odumosu said at the beginning of the year that the police command in Lagos State was not going to tolerate any form of criminality.
