Customs, Army Strengthen Partnership as Comptroller Bewaji Hosts Brigade Commander

The Customs Area Controller of the Ondo/Ekiti Area Command, Comptroller Morenikeji Bewaji, has reaffirmed the Service’s dedication to inter-agency cooperation. She made this statement during a courtesy visit by the Commander of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, Owena Cantonment, Akure, Brigadier General Justin Ifeanyi.

A statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) Aondoakura Dzungwenen, on Friday, 28 February 2025, noted that the visit took place on Tuesday, 25 February 2025, at the Command’s headquarters in Akure. The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration in security operations and Customs compliance.

During the visit, Comptroller Bewaji highlighted the longstanding partnership between both institutions and assured that efforts would be intensified to enhance their working relationship. She reiterated the Customs Service’s commitment to working closely with the Nigerian Army to promote national security and economic stability.

“We are committed to deepening the Customs–Army partnership to reinforce national security and economic growth,” Bewaji stated.

Earlier, Brigadier-General Justin Ifeanyi expressed satisfaction with the engagement, stressing the need for greater synergy between the Customs and the Army to improve operational efficiency. He also underscored the importance of soldiers being well-informed about customs procedures to ensure seamless operations.

“This engagement strengthens Army–Customs synergy, enhances efficiency, and ensures soldiers understand customs procedures for smooth operations,” Ifeanyi remarked.

According to the statement, the visit reflects the ongoing efforts of security agencies to foster mutual understanding and advance national development.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from both organisations to collaborate more effectively, enhance operational efficiency, and contribute to national security and economic growth.
