Customs College Commandant Inducts Officers of Junior Course 17, Harps on Originality of Officers’ Work

The Commandant of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Kingsley Egwu, has emphasised the need for the Junior Course 17 to maintain the originality of their work during the training they embarked upon.

The Commandant made this known on September 11, 2023, during the inauguration of the new batch of students commencing their Junior Staff Course, expected to last three months.

Speaking further, the Commandant urged the students to put in enough effort in improving themselves and strive to be original with their works, as copyright or plagiarism will not be tolerated.

“Of great importance in the College is the originality of your work – the way you write or work. Use your own words; use your own concepts. It is a clear definition of who you are. That is what the Service expects of you.”

He emphasised the need for participants of the new batch of Junior Course 17 to make good use of their time at the college and not to take such an opportunity for granted, as that would be key to their progress within the Service and for higher responsibility in the future.

“The Service would have preferred to have you positioned at your duty posts to initiate some revenue collections, trade facilitations and protect all the frontiers, and rather, we chose to bring you to undergo a course like this. Do not take an opportunity like this for granted. Do all you can to improve your competence for a higher responsibility in the future.”

The Commandant further cautioned students to comport themselves desirably and ensure they obey the rules and regulations, as erring students would attract severe sanctions.

Staff courses in the College started in 2017 to educate middle cadre officers in preparation for higher responsibilities.
