Customs, Nigerian Navy Hospital Collaborate to Improve Staff Welfare

The Nigeria Customs Service NCS, Edo/Delta Area Command, has restated its commitment to working closely with other government agencies to improve service to the public. This followed a visit by the reprenstatives from Nigerian Navy Hospital, to the Command Headquarters in Warri on Friday, 31 July 2026.

Leading the team on behalf of the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Hospital, Warri, Lt. Cdr. Olusegun Olajide said the visit was to strengthen the long-standing relationship between both organisations and to introduce the hospital’s medical services available to Customs officers and their families.

Welcoming the team, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller, Judith Kanu, described the Nigerian Navy as an important partner in protecting Nigeria’s waters, fighting smuggling, and safeguarding the country’s economy. She said working together among security agencies is very important for national security and effective trade facilitation.

“When our officers are healthy and our agencies work together, we are better able to protect our borders, support legal trade, and protect the country’s economy. In the end, Nigerians benefit because stronger institutions mean better service and a safer country,” Comptroller Kanu said.

Explaining the hospital’s services, Lt. Cdr. Olajide said the facility provides different types of medical care, including eye treatment, laboratory tests, MRI and CT scans, maternity services, and dental care. He said the hospital is committed to giving quality healthcare that helps security officers stay fit for their duties.

Also speaking, Lt. Cdr. Joel Gana said the hospital offers emergency care, treatment for accidents, bone and joint care, mental health services, women’s health services, family planning, surgery, stomach-related emergency care, and regular health check-ups. He said good healthcare support helps security officers work better and respond quickly to their duties.

In his vote of thanks, the Deputy Comptroller of Customs in charge of Administration, Deputy Comptroller Idakeipiriye Omiete, thanked the delegation for the visit and praised the Nigerian Navy Hospital for its commitment to good healthcare. He said the partnership would help improve staff welfare and strengthen cooperation between both organisations.
