Accompanied by his Management team, Comptroller Kamal stressed the significance of the ECOWAS sanctions lift and the restoration of power supply to Niger Republic. He stated, “With the lift of ECOWAS sanctions on the Niger Republic and the subsequent restoration of power supply, I came to ensure all is set towards the reopening of the Illela Border; we await the last order.”
During the visit, the CAC addressed stakeholders and Security Agencies at the border station, emphasizing the importance of cooperation, particularly in intelligence, information sharing, and joint operations to safeguard the nation’s border.
He highlighted, “With collaboration, each agency will be able to effectively and efficiently fulfill its assigned mandate.”
Expressing gratitude to Customs License Agents for their patience during the seven-month border closure, Comptroller Kamal Mohammed acknowledged their challenges and assured them that better times are ahead.
Comptroller Kamal also appreciated the Illela Community for their hospitality during the visit. Additionally, he sought the support of Sarkin Gobir Na Gwadabawa, the Royal father, urging him to educate his ward on the detrimental impact of smuggling on the nation’s economy.
