Danish Worker Who Rescues Nigeria’s ‘Witch Children’ Makes ‘World’s Most Inspiring People’ List

Anja Ringgren Lovén, the Danish development worker who made headlines after she rescued the malnourished 2-year-old child called Hope from the streets of Akwa Ibom, Nigeria, has made the list of OOOM’s ‘World’s Most Inspiring People’.

Speaking with Huffington Post, Lovén who is the founder of the African Children’s Aid Education and Development Foundation (ACAEDF), said she was shaken to her core after seeing the rate at which children in southsouthern Nigeria, accused of afflicting their family with witchcraft, were abandoned. The most gripping story of them was Hope’s who is now a healthy toddler.

Now, Lovén is topping the list of world’s most inspiring people which also includes notable names like Pope Francis, Charlize Theron, Mark Zuckerberg and the Dalai Lama.

However, Lovén thinks the award should go to her husband and team, all those who have immensely contributed to the success of their organisation.
