Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association Donates Relief Materials To Less Privileged Children In Abuja

In fulfilling its institutional humanitarian vision of bringing succor to less privileged persons in the society, the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) has donated relief materials to 157 children at the Vine Heritage Home Foundation, Kiyi, along Kuje/Gwagwalada road, Abuja. Items donated by DEPOWA include food stuff, beverages, sanitary disposables, toiletries
and several other provisions.

The DEPOWA President, Dr (Mrs), Omobolanle Olonisakin, while presenting the relief materials to the Children Home, said the humanitarian gesture was part of the Association’s continuous commitment of reaching out to the most vulnerable individuals, particularly in the provision of essential needs.

Mrs Olonisakin, who was represented by the DEPOWA Vice President, Mrs Grace Balogun, disclosed that the Association was leveraging on its humanitarian and social intervention programmes in complimenting the welfare schemes of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and Police for barracks communities and their environs. She commended the management of the Home for ensuring the wellbeing of the vulnerable children.

The DEPOWA President called on all Nigerians to assist in alleviating the suffering of the less privileged. “We should collectively come together to assist the less privileged in our society including the orphans.”

In his remarks, the Coordinator of Vine Home, Pastor Stephen Olushola, expressed appreciation on the humanitarian gesture by DEPOWA and assured that the relief materials will be judiciously utilized for the benefit of the children.

Speaking further, Olushola noted that the home was established in 1996 for the sole purpose of providing shelter to children who are rejected by their families due to cultural beliefs.

Pastor Olushola used the opportunity to commend Government and Non Governmental organizations and philanthropists for supporting the Children home.
