Top Tanzanian Superstars Summoned For Drug Trafficking After Diamond’s Ex Was Caught

Hitmaker Diamond Platnumz and some top Tanzanian superstars have been summoned by the police after the singer’s ex girlfriend, the actress Wema Sepetu was arrested by the police for allegedly being involved in drug trafficking.

According to Tuko Kenya, the actress was arrested on Saturday, February 4, alongside 10 other suspects which include popular singer TID and media personality Babuu wa Kitaa.

Speaking with the press, the Dar es Salaam Provincional Commissioner Paul Makonda, said that the sting operation to bust the traffickers started on February 3, and by Saturday, at least 5 suspects had been arrested. It is unclear how the top national acts were linked in the trafficking case.

Reactions on social media have trailed a recent report that the country’s biggest star, Diamond Platnumz, has been summoned for questioning.

According to E Daily, Diamond Platnumz, singer Vanessa Mdee, BBA winner Idris Sultan and singer Nay wa Mitego have all been summoned for questioning for possible involvement in the drug trafficking case.

While none of the stars mentioned have issued a statement to address the story, Tanzanians are all out on social media, sharing thoughts over the arrest of Wema Sepetu who is one of the country’s most famous actresses.

God hears the cry of the children affected by the use of drugs and render judgment enough for all those drug dealers,” said one upset fan @dlnobby. And another, @Sarah.boazi, chirped in, supporting Wema: “Fear not! When you pass in the wonders God is with you! God makes a way there is no way! You’re going to be lifted up again for re not afraid.”
