‘I Don’t Feel Straight Or Gay!’ Miley Cyrus Opens Up On Why She’s Neither a Woman nor Man

You cannot put a gender or sexuality label on Miley Cyrus because she’s neither man nor woman, straight nor gay, bisexual doesn’t describe her either. The former Disney star turned wild child turned reformed activist revealed in a recent interview that she doesn’t identify as any of the above.

The 23-year-old who is a coach on this season of NBC’s The Voice spoke on being gender neutral (pansexual), the public’s perception of her person and her newfound zest for life as she covered Variety‘s Power of Women.

“My whole life, I didn’t understand my own gender and my own sexuality. I always hated the word ‘bisexual,’ because that’s even putting me in a box. I don’t ever think about someone being a boy or someone being a girl,” Liam Hemsworth’s fiance noted.

“Even though I may seem very different, people may not see me as neutral as I feel. But I feel very neutral. I think that was the first gender-neutral person I’d ever met. Once I understood my gender more, which was unassigned, then I understood my sexuality more. I was like, ‘Oh—that’s why I don’t feel straight and I don’t feel gay. It’s because I’m not,’”she added.

The Last Song actress confessed that despite her very religious upbringing, her  first relationship was with a girl in grade 5 or 6. She also admitted she did not make a fuss about it because she knew she would figure it out.

“The universe has always given me the power to know I’ll be OK,” she chipped in.

Miley Cyrus who earlier vowed not walk the red carpet again because of course, there are more important things in life, stated that her wild days are long gone.

“People saw me as being wild, and literally all I do is I’m obsessed with yoga, I love hiking, and I’m reading constantly. My life is so positive. From the outside, people think I’m partying with rappers. That was back in my prime.”

And oh! she’s working on the text for her tombstone because the lyrics from her hit song- ‘Wrecking Ball just wouldn’t do.
