Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame
E! News reports that the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actor was honored with the 2,624th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday, a tribute to him for his contributions to the entertainment industry and how much he has given back to the community. For the event, he was accompanied by his pregnant girlfriend and Lauren Hashian and their almost-2-year-old daughter Jasmine.
Recall that Johnson was catapulted to fame during his time at WWE, and his fight with ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin has gone down in history as one of the most legendary in wrestling history. In 2003, he branched into acting, a transition that saw him returning to the wrestling ring only on special occasions. In 2011, he returned to wrestling again, fighting five times over the course of two years.
Now, The Rock is a full-time actor, and was the highest paid actor in the world in 2016, with earnings of $64.5 million. And in 2017 he is the second-highest, after Mark Wahlberg, with $65 million in earnings.
After getting his star yesterday, the actor gushed about his 16-year-old daughter from a previous marriage, Simone, who was announced last month as the 2018 Golden Globe Ambassador.
“We have such a high-quality relationship…she continues to teach me,” said the actor. “I am incredibly proud of her.”
And asked if he has any advice for the teenager as she begins her duties at the 2018 Globes, he told her this: “I want you to be present and in the moment. That’s important and enjoy it because things happen so quickly. We’re on this treadmill of life where there is no stop button. Just be present in the moment, have fun and also know you are carrying the torch for our industry that we are making our living in and you are also carrying the torch for our family.”
