EFCC and Nigerian Police Partner To Fight Crime In Edo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 extended its hand of collaboration to the Nigerian Police in the fight against corruption, economic and financial crimes in Nigeria.

The collaboration was reached when the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Police Command Benin, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo paid a courtesy call to the Benin office of the EFCC.  The Zonal Head, Benin, Mailafia Yakubu, who received him on behalf of Ibrahim Magu, Acting EFCC Chairman, commended Kokumo for the gesture and show of solidarity. “There is truly a need for our agencies to synergize and collaborate if the fight against corruption must be won,” Yakubu said.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Police input in curtailing corruption in the country. Yakubu also noted that the state there was a lot of work to be done in the state in order to curb criminal activities.

Kokumo, who said that he was on a familiarization tour, aimed at ensuring synergy with the EFCC in the zone, commended the anti-graft agency for its concerted efforts in reinvigorating the war against corruption in Nigeria.

“Like the EFCC, we also have zero tolerance for corruption and we share in the vision of sanitizing Edo State of all criminal activities and their tendencies,” he added.
