Emir of Gombe Canvasses Support For EFCC, Anti-Graft Fight

The Emir of Gombe, and Chairman Gombe State Council of Emirs and Cheifs, Alhaji Dr. Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III has urged the general public to support the activities of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for the development of Nigeria.

The Emir made the remarks when he received the Acting Executive Chairman of the EFCC Mr. Ibrahim Magu in his palace today, October 22, 2018 in Gombe.

While appreciating the effort of Magu as exceptional since the Commission was established especially in the area of recoveries and convictions, he urged the chairman not to relent in his efforts of curbing the menace of corruption in Nigeria.

In his speech, Mr. Magu informed the Emir that he is in Gombe to meet with stakeholders in fighting corruption and therefore considered it necessary to pay homage to His Highness as a father and to solicit his support.

His words: “fighting corruption is a serious business that needs all hands on deck to achieve the desired goals, though we have the mandate as provided by the law, we enjoin everybody to join the fight against corruption including the royal fathers, it is our collective responsibility to get this task done for the development and progress of our dear nation”.

Before he proceeded to Emir’s palace, Magu met with other critical stakeholders such as traditional leaders, Civil Society Organisations, Labour Unions, Professional bodies like Nigerian Bar Association, Students Union, Media organisations, Religious Organisations, EFCC/NYSC Integrity Club and some activists from the Academia in order to partner with them in corruption fight.

The Ag. Chairman also did a stop over at the Gombe State Police Command wvisithere he visited the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Garba Muqaddas for Synergy between the two agencies.
