Fans react to Tonto Dikeh’s alleged marriage crisis as she apologises to Mercy Johnson
Since she got married two years ago, controversial actress has not been in the news for the wrong reasons as opposed to how it was before she tied the knots. But that story sort of changed Friday, when the news hit the Internet that the actress’ two year old marriage had allegedly crashed.
Tonto who had yet to confirm or deny the allegation, fuelled the story when she removed her husband’s name, Churchill, from her Instagram page.
Her fans and foes have greeted the recent development with mixed feelings. While some prayed the news to be false, others said her alleged past has caught up with her.
Expectedly, busybodies have also alleged the actress’ husband was sleeping with Tonto’s personal assistant.
A fan online, simply identified as, Gentle said, “well…she brought it on herself. I really don’t have time to be critical of people’s relationships and social media obsession, but Tonto’s case is funny. She passed through so much before she finally got married. Because of the unnecessary hate always thrown her way, she promised to stay off social media after her marriage. Instead, all she did was flaunt one gift or the other her hubby gave her, and then pray for him on social media for everyone to see. Well, another woman had decided that she wants to enjoy with her.”
And even as Tonto didn’t talk about the alleged marriage break-up, she however, apologised to her colleague who she had insulted in 2013 after she had got married and had a baby.
In her tweets then, Tonto had said, ‘Nollywood Bridez marry horribly** #SHEBA#…Wen n if I give birth,God, plz provide mii wit a husband dat can provide 4uz,Not 1 dat wld send mii bck to actin 2monthz after I born 2Huzzle (sic)’.
In her early morning apology Friday, Tonto had said on her social media handle that she was sorry.
Her message read in part, “Good morning world. Since I have your undivided attention, I better make good use of it and not miss the blessing in this lesson!!! @mercyjohnsonokojie. Ever since I had my baby, I have been reminded constantly about an ill statement I made about one of your kids a very long time ago. I want to use this media to say I am so sorry, I sincerely apologise from the bottom of my heart. I had no right to say what I did, I totally disgraced myself with that.” Mercy Johnson accepted the apology almost immediately via her social media handle.
