During his visit to the University of Lagos on September 25, Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola criticized spurious conferments of National Honors to siting Governors, as well as arbitrary universities awarding honors to people, thereby affecting the value the honors represent.
Fashola stated that he has already rejected five of such honors offers.
He also added that he has tried to discourage the State University from offering such awards to non-deserving candidates.
In addition, Fashola advised Newspapers to cease from publishing congratulatory messages to public officials who’ve only been appointed and have not completed any tasks.
