FC Ifeanyi Ubah Gets N100m As Transfer Window Opens
As the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) mid-term window opened Sunday following the conclusion of the first half of the season, clubs are pulling all the stops to bolster their chances of glory come end of season and the proprietor of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, has supported his side with a N100 million cheque for a mid-season splurge.
Vanguard reports that the oil magnate presented the cheque during the interval of the NPFL matchday 19 fixture between the club and Niger Tornadoes at the Ifeanyi Ubah sports stadium, Nnewi.
The billionaire tycoon, who doubles as Chairman of Anambra State Football Association said the money would provide management enough arsenal to enter the market and secure the services of the best players.
“This is my own way of supporting the efforts of management as they prepare for the second half of the season. The target is the league title. If they fail, Anambra people will ask them why. They have to go for the best legs money can buy,” he said at the stadium to loud cheers from the spectators.
The team also reacted in style by beating the visitors 2-0 in a pulsating encounter. Meanwhile, the club proprietor also made a donation of N150m to the Anambra State FA toward the development of football in the state, saying: “The money should be spread among all the local government areas.”
The donation which was done in the name of the Ifeanyi Ubah Foundation was to assist the FA in its One Family One Footballer initiative.
