Fifa President Infantino Visits Ghana
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that FIFA President, Gianni Infantino will be in the country on a one-day working visit that includes a meeting with the country’s President Nana Akuffo-Addo at the Flagstaff House.
Infantino, who continues to live up to his campaign promises by aligning with Africa, will arrive in the Ghana capital Accra this morning as he seeks to further strengthen the ties between world football governing body and the West African country, TodayGH writes.
“This is an important milestone for football in Ghana with President Infantino coming to the country to share ideas of his vision for the game,” Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi said of the visit.
“President Infantino’s visit is unique because it gives our key stakeholders the chance to exchange ideas with a sitting FIFA President to help shape the future of the game.
“We are delighted to host the FIFA President in Ghana and we are confident the visit will further accelerate the development of the game in the country.”
Infantino, 46, is also scheduled to visit the GFA headquarters where he will meet federation officials and staff of the organization, before holding a meeting with the Executive Committee of the GFA and key stakeholders of the game to brainstorm on his vision for football.
The Fifa boss’ visit to Ghana is coming months after he visited Nigeria in the wake of his landmark election victory, after which he not only appointed an African – Fatma Samoura – as General Secretary – but increased Africa’s World Cup slots from five to seven.
