Force Commander Operation Whirl Stroke Visits 4 Special Forces Command Doma, Strengthens Inter-State Security Cooperation

The Force Commander Joint Task Force Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), Major General Moses Kolo Gara, paid a courtesy visit to Headquarters 4 Special Forces (SF) Command in Doma, Nasarawa State, on Friday, 27 June 2025. The visit also extended to Headquarters Sector 2 and Sub-Sector 2 Outpost under OPWS, where the Force Commander addressed troops on the importance of discipline, training, and continuous self-improvement.

Upon arrival, the Force Commander was warmly received with a befitting Quarter Guard mounted in his honour—a gesture he deeply appreciated. In his remarks, Major General Gara expressed profound gratitude to the Commander 4 SF Command, Major General Hilary Nzan, for his unwavering support and steadfast collaboration with Operation Whirl Stroke since he assumed command.

“I am here to express my utmost respect and appreciation. Since my assumption of duty, it has been a turbulent ride operationally, but you have continually stood as a guide and mentor. I have always held you in high esteem, right from our formative years at the Nigerian Defence Academy,” General Gara noted. He described the Commander as a pillar of strength and a dependable ally in counterinsurgency and internal security operations in the North Central region.

In response, Major General Hilary Nzan emphasized that the courtesy visit was not merely a matter of official protocol but borne out of a brotherly bond and long-standing professional relationship. He acknowledged the crucial role of OPWS in stabilizing volatile areas and reiterated the original mandate of the Joint Task Force, which is to conduct coordinated military operations across Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States, targeting armed banditry, militia activities, and other security threats.

“Operation WHIRL STROKE was initiated to project military presence and deliver decisive action against criminal elements within the North Central zone. There is no boundary between OPWS and 4 SF Command; our doors remain open to support your mission in any capacity,” General Nzan affirmed.

He also charged Sector Commanders under OPWS to remain committed to inter-agency collaboration and ensure operational synergy that reflects the Nigerian Army’s commitment to professionalism, discipline, and mission success. Commending Major General Gara’s proactive leadership style, he emphasized the importance of continuous coordination for swift and effective response to evolving security challenges.

The visit was climaxed with an exchange of souvenirs, presentation of a medal by the Commander 4 SF Command Doma, refreshments, and group photographs.
