Former CNS Commissions Newly Constructed Department Of Maritime Warfare Complex AFCSC

The former Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Rear Admiral Suleiman Saidu (rtd) has on Thursday 8 June 2023 commissioned the newly constructed Department of Maritime Warfare (DMW) Complex at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC) Jaji, Kaduna.

The former CNS who was the Special Guest of honour at the event stated that stated that, the DMW plays a crucial role towards the actualization of the College goals in furtherance of our national defence objectives, especially from contemporary maritime warfare perspectives.

He added that, this is unconnected with the fact that majority of our dear nations prosperity lies within the maritime domain, which further underscores the vital need to continually make the department conducive for learning. He therefore urged both the staff and students to put the facility into proper use as enormous resources have been committed to the construction of the new edifice.

In his words, “Infrastructural development of this nature plays a crucial role towards the actualization of the College goals in furtherance of the Country’s defense objectives. Consequently, this will no doubt facilitate a more fulfilling learning environment for the student officers and will also address the challenges of insufficient office space, syndicate rooms and central lecture halls in both single and tri-service terms”.

Speaking earlier during the occasion, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo stated that the event marks yet another milestone amongst several initiatives in the comprehensive transformation plan articulated for infrastructural development towards effective discharge of their constitutional mandate.

He added that, the new complex will alleviate shortage of offices space and syndicate rooms, currently experienced as well as provide the necessary comfort to enhance teaching and learning.

In his welcome remarks, the Commandant of AFCSC Air Vice Marshal Emmanuel Wonah asserted that the building of the mordern age complex will not only improve the officers welfare but also enhance competence in their chosen field.
