Gen. Akinjobi Inaugurates Students Of Second Quarter Basic Battle Course

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch Maj Gen OT Akinjobi has today 6 June 2023 inaugurated students of Basic Battle Course 5/2023 at the 1 Division Training School, Dalet Barracks Kaduna.

In his inaugural speech, the GOC stated that he was very pleased to see all the participants in high spirit halfway into the course that commenced on 19 May 2023, which gives the feeling that the objectives of the training are gradually been achieve.

He noted that the Division Training School permanent site in Dalet Barracks is best suited to conduct such exercises considering the large space it affords. In his words “what we owe you as your leaders is quality training”. You must therefore consider yourselves very lucky to be beneficiaries of this well packaged training. He said as he urged the students to make maximum use of the available facilities so as to develop their capacities and competencies.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Division Training Officer Brig Gen A Wende stated that the key objective of the Basic Battle Course is to develop individuals and team spirit of the participants as well as their physically and mentally alertness. According to him, doing so will enhance the battle skills of the students as professional soldiers.

He added that the course was aimed at developing the trainees endurance and ability to withstand extremes of temperature, fatigue, and sleep deprivation so as to build their mental robustness to enable them bear the shock of battle, isolation and fear as well as enhanced their weapon handling and shooting skills.
