General Officer Commanding 3 Division Commences Maiden Operational Visits To Formations Under Command, Reaffirms Commitment To Operational Readiness

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation ENDURING PEACE Maj Gen WM Dangana has commenced his maiden operational visits to formations under command as part of efforts to assess operational readiness, enhance command oversight and strengthen the capacity of the formations to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.

The first phase of the visit took the GOC to Headquarters 33 Artillery Brigade and Nigerian Army Armoured Corps in Bauchi State, as well as Headquarters 301 Artillery Regiment in Gombe State. During the visits, the GOC inspected operational facilities, received comprehensive operational briefings from the commanders and interacted with officers and soldiers.

Speaking during the engagements, the GOC stated that the visit was aimed at obtaining a firsthand assessment of the operational preparedness, administrative efficiency and welfare of troops across the formations. He noted that the visit also provided an opportunity to identify existing challenges confronting the formations and jointly evolve practical measures to address them in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff.

The GOC emphasised that maintaining a high level of combat readiness, professionalism and discipline remains essential to effectively tackling emerging security challenges within the formations’ respective areas of responsibility. He urged commanders at all levels to sustain intensive training, improve operational planning and continue to place premium on the welfare of personnel, stressing that a motivated force remains indispensable to mission success.

While commending officers and soldiers for their dedication, resilience and sacrifices in the discharge of their duties, the GOC charged them to remain vigilant, uphold the highest standards of professionalism and continue working in synergy with sister services, other security agencies and relevant stakeholders to enhance peace and security.

As part of the visit, the GOC also paid courtesy calls on the Executive Governors of Bauchi and Gombe States. He appreciated the state governments for their continued support to the Nigerian Army formations and other security agencies in the collective effort to maintain peace and security. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining cordial civil-military relations and strengthening collaboration with state governments and other stakeholders towards ensuring a safe and secure environment for socio-economic development.

The maiden operational visit underscores the commitment of Headquarters 3 Division Nigerian Army to effective leadership, enhanced operational efficiency and continuous improvement of formations under command. It is expected that the outcomes of the engagements will further strengthen the operational capabilities of the formations, enabling them to effectively provide security within their respective areas of responsibility in line with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff.

Highlights of the visits were commissioning of 301 Artillery Regiment Cenotaph, planting of tree, exchange of souvenirs and group photographs.
