GOC 2 Division Urges NASWA Members To Support Spouses, Instill Discipline In Children
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, has urged members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers Wives Association (NASWA) to support their husbands and raise their children with discipline, morality, respect and good character. He gave the charge on Friday, 16 October 2026, when the Chairperson of NASWA, 2 Division Chapter, Mrs Bolanle Matthew, led other members of the association, including Magajiyas, on a maiden visit to the GOC at Headquarters 2 Division, Adekunle Fajuyi Cantonment, Ibadan.
The GOC commended the members for their contributions to maintaining stable homes, noting that their support enables their husbands to perform their duties effectively. He acknowledged the critical role they play in managing their families, particularly during difficult times, and said their efforts contribute significantly to the success of the Division and the Nigerian Army at large.
He urged them to remain committed to supporting their husbands, stressing that a peaceful home environment would enable their spouses to discharge their responsibilities effectively. He also encouraged them to remain security-conscious, noting that the security of the barracks was a collective responsibility.
Earlier, Mrs Matthew said the delegation visited the Division’s Headquarters to appreciate the GOC for his continued support to NASWA. She expressed gratitude for the advice and encouragement he had offered the association and assured him that members would continue to maintain peaceful homes to enable their husbands to perform their duties effectively.
Mrs Matthew also appreciated the Chairperson of the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Munnira Mahmuda, for her leadership and tremendous support to NASWA.
