GOC 6 Division Calls For Improved Medical Services For Personnel

The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, has called for improved medical services for personnel of the Nigerian Army (NA). He made the call on 17 November 2025, when he received in audience the newly appointed Acting Corps Commander Medical (CCM), Brigadier General Innocent Enwuchola, at Headquarters 6 Division, Port Harcourt Barracks.

The GOC stated that it is worrisome that some medical issues are not covered under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) framework. He advocated for interventions in that regard to bridge the gap. He also supported the idea of bringing medical consultants and experts to work with medical personnel of the NA. This, he said, would enhance medical services and also broaden the knowledge of personnel in providing better healthcare. He congratulated the Acting CCM on his appointment and assured him of the Division’s support under his command.

Earlier, the Acting CCM, Brigadier General Innocent Enwuchola, appreciated the GOC for the commendable support he has been rendering to both the Military Hospital Port Harcourt and the 6 Division Medical Services and Hospital. He added that since he assumed command, he has been visiting medical facilities across formations and units, essentially to examine their state and come up with a more pragmatic way to handle medical challenges in the NA.

Brigadier General Enwuchola disclosed that he had earlier visited 68 Reference Hospital Yaba and the Nigerian Army Medical School Ojo and many other facilities, hence the visit to 6 Division to get firsthand information on the challenges on ground. He reiterated his commitment to increasing the number of medical doctors in the Corps to enhance robust medical services for personnel and their families.
