GOC 6 Division Visit Troops Location, Resonates Call For Synergy Amongst Agencies

In keeping faith with his resolve to routinely visit troops locations and ascertain their state of operational readiness, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah has visited several locations on 22 March 2025 in the Niger Delta Region (NDR). The GOC visited Cawthorne Channel 2, Forward Logistics Base and Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation flow station at Bille amongst others. All the locations visited are in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The visits afforded the GOC, who also doubled as the Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, the opportunity to have firsthand information on the state of the critical national infrastructure and the troops disposition in the locations visited. He was received on arrival by the Commanding Officer (CO), 146 Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Oyemade Oyewumi at Cawthorne Channel 2, and thereafter briefed by Mr Peter Itohowo, the Field Superintendent Supervisor at the facility.

While addressing commanders in the locations, the GOC resonated the need for synergy amongst security agencies in tackling the menace of oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the NDR. He called on all the agencies to collaborate, urging them to support each other in the conduct of operations.

The GOC maintained that they are working collectively to achieve a common goal, which is safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure and most importantly providing security in the NDR for socio-economic activities to thrive.
