GOC 81 Division Urges Graduating Students To Make Responsible Choices

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Abdulrahman Babalola, has urged graduating SS3 students of Command Day Secondary School, Ikeja, to exercise wisdom, restraint and integrity in all their decisions as they prepare for the next phase of their lives.

The GOC gave the charge on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, during the Valedictory Service and Prize-Giving Ceremony for the 2025/2026 graduating class at TA Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja, Lagos.

Represented by the Commander, 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General AO Owolabi, the GOC stressed that the choices the students make today will shape their future and determine their contributions to society.

Speaking on the theme, “Making Responsible Choices in a Changing World,” Major General Babalola encouraged the graduates to uphold the values of discipline, integrity, patriotism and responsible leadership instilled in them through the Command Schools system. While congratulating the prize winners, he reminded all graduating students that success is built on perseverance, good character and continuous self-improvement.

Earlier, the School Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel AO Akindele, described the 2025/2026 academic session as highly successful, highlighting the school’s outstanding achievements in academics, sports and leadership development. He particularly commended the students for emerging Overall Best School at the 2026 81 Division Inter-Command Secondary Schools Sports Competition and appreciated the GOC, the Corps Commander Education, Brigadier General YD Ahmed, education authorities, the PTA, parents and other stakeholders for their unwavering support.

The ceremony was attended by the Corps Commander Education, Brig Gen YD Ahmed represented by Lt Col NB Sabo, senior military officers, government officials, traditional rulers, alumni, parents and other distinguished guests. It featured the presentation of prizes and awards, cultural performances, the unveiling of the school yearbook, presentation of souvenirs, cutting of the graduation cake and group photographs.
