GOC Praise 6 Brigade Troops For Operational Excellence, Thanks Taraba State Government For Support

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, has commended the troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army for their exceptional bravery and dedication in maintaining peace and security in Taraba State.

During his first operational visit to the brigade’s Area of Responsibility (AOR) on February 28, 2025, General Oyinlola praised the troops for their remarkable achievements. He was received by the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, who provided a detailed briefing on the brigade’s operational activities, successes, challenges, and future plans. Brigadier General Uwa expressed gratitude for the GOC’s visit, noting that it offered a valuable opportunity to address some of the brigade’s pressing issues.

In his remarks, Major General Oyinlola applauded the brigade’s outstanding performance and expressed confidence in the leadership of Brigadier General Uwa, acknowledging his relentless efforts to ensure the safety of Taraba State residents. The GOC also addressed the troops, commending their hard work and dedication, which have contributed to the relative peace enjoyed in the state. During the visit, the commander displayed a cache of arms and ammunition recovered from various operations conducted by the brigade over the past year, as well as surveillance equipment procured to enhance intelligence-gathering efforts.

As part of his visit, the GOC paid a courtesy call on the Executive Governor of Taraba State, His Excellency Dr. Agbu Kefas, at the State Executive Chambers of the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo. General Oyinlola thanked the governor and the people of Taraba State for their unwavering support to the Nigerian Army. He emphasized that his visit was aimed at assessing the operational readiness of the troops following his recent assumption of command. The GOC reiterated the military’s commitment to reducing insecurity in the state to the barest minimum, enabling citizens to carry out their daily activities without fear or intimidation.

Governor Kefas congratulated General Oyinlola on his appointment and expressed confidence in his ability to enhance security within the 3 Division’s Area of Responsibility. He praised the leadership of the 6 Brigade for fostering a strong working relationship with the state government and other security agencies, which has contributed to the safety of lives and property across Taraba State. The governor also assured the GOC of the state government’s continued support and collaboration.

Additionally, the GOC visited His Royal Highness, the Emir of Muri, Alhaji Abbas Njidda Tafida, at his palace in Jalingo. The Emir expressed his delight at the visit and assured the military of his full cooperation, pledging continued support for efforts to secure the lives and property of the people.

Key highlights of the visit included the presentation of souvenirs, the signing of the visitor’s book, a group photograph, and a guided tour of ongoing projects, as well as a visit to the 114 Battalion (Rear).
