Gov. Abdulrazaq To Implement Tested and Trusted Template In Education
Kwara state Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq unaware to the teachers showed up at Gbodonji Primary school, Patigi today.
The school as at the time of the governor’s visit at 12:40pm had only two teachers available with learning classrooms showing high level of disparity with what a school should look like.
AbdulRazaq noticing the lackadasical attitude of the teachers took his time to crosscheck the students school notes only to discover it corresponded with his observation as the student last used their notes as far back as March.
Governor AbdulRazaq while personally interrogating the head teacher who later confessed to certain abnormalities and also gave an insight on how past governments have aided them in the nonchalant act ranging from doctoring of students data and so on. His confessional statement further exposed the peculiarities in the education ministry as the budget prepared and passed for education is not a true reflection of real numbers of students in government owned schools within the state.
It was discovered that the schools have been submitting projected numbers of students and original numbers of students of which it has been a joint decision with the past administrations to always prepare state’s education budget based on projected numbers of students.
The governor instructed the head teacher to immediately submit detailed and truthful account of the school to appropriate quotas.
Abdulrazaq also raised concern on the rate at which school age children are abandoning school for farming in not just Kwara North senatorial district but Kwara as a whole, promising to implement tested and trusted template that can best arrest the situation urgently to stop the disservice to the future of Kwara rapidly.
