Hamilton Wins US Grand Prix to Close Gap on Rosberg
Lewis Hamilton cruised to a comfortable victory at the United States Grand prix to cut his F1 championship points deficit to Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg on Sunday.
It was a first race win for the three-time World champion since the German Grand Prix in July, and he moves 26 points behind Rosberg, who finished second, ahead of the final three races of the season.
Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo beat out Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel for a place on the podium, with Fernando Alonso coming in fifth.

The 31-year-old Brit moves into an exclusive club of 50 race wins in his career, with only Alain Prost (51) and Michael Schumacher (91) having won more than that number in the history of the sport.
“What an incredible crowd,” a jubilant Hamilton said. “I feel OK, this has always been a good hunting ground for me, it always feels like home.
“The team did a great job to put us both up there and I am very proud to be up here. Finally my 50th win.
“All I can do is my best, Nico has been driving fantastically well, so the battle will continue, I will be going for it.”
Hamilton’s much-needed victory halts the momentum Rosberg had built up since the summer break that saw the German take four victories in five races.
The championship battle remains firmly in Rosberg’s hands with just Mexico, Brazil and Abu Dhabi remaining for Hamilton to pull off an unlikely comeback to defend his title.
