Hon. Gbokedu Declaration Turns Bloody As Members Of His Constituent Reject His Re-election Bid

The Honorable member representing the good people of Owode/Onire constituency at the Kwara state House of Assembly had his re-election declaration bid turn bloody as members of his constituents reject his second term bid saying his actions is undermining a laid down rotational system.

It was a bloody afternoon at Alapa local government area headquarters as youths, electorates, market women, okada riders, artisans and party faithfuls from five wards in their large numbers gathered at the entrance of the venue to protest against the second term bid of Honorable Ambali Ibrahim Gbokedu representing them.

The protesters displayed various placards with the inscriptions conderming the re-election of the serving honourable as contravening the long laid down rotational system adopted by the constituency.

It was reported that one of a member of the party from Alapa/Onire/Ode-Giwa ward, Mallam Abubakar Zubair was violently attached and sustained various degrees of injuries as he was attacked with broken bottles.

The case has been reported at the Alapa police station for further investigations.

According to one of the youths in Onire district, Alhaji Mumini Kondoro, he said there is no controversy on the laid down rotational system being adopted by the districts as no one can rewrite the the history of the constituency.

He reminded that all other parties zoned their house of house assembly to Onire district for the maintenance of the rotation method, urging the state governor to adhere with the laid down rotational system by the elders, stakeholders in the constituency.

Alhaji Mumini Kondoro said he has spoken with some party stalwarts in constituency and they claimed that the serving honourable does not effectively represent the constituency as expected.

He said those who consulted further disclosed that the honourable was an opportunist of ‘Otoge’ matrite in 2019 election who was just picked randomly for election, calling on the state chairman and her executives not to endorse the serving honourable member as APC candidate for 2023 house of assembly elections.

Also speaking, one of the party faithfuls and a former councilor from Onikeke, Hon. AbdulRauf Omotosho said he was surprised at the honourable Gbokedu’s action on his re-election as honourable member of house of assembly.

He said the honourable member being a Lagos basses politician is not aware of the laid down rotational system being practiced in the constituency, saying that people around failed to update him on the rotational method of the the constituency.

Also speaking, the former supervisory council for Works in the local government, Hon. Ayinde Usman Alajere said some condemned the second term of the honourable, disclosing that it has never happened in the history of the constituency.

“If the honourable does not caution his second term bids, it may affect the future political arrangement of Owode district, saying that Owode and Onire are politically siblings.

Meanwhile, Hon Zakary Funsho Yusuf, who was just cleared by the party to go ahead and contest for Asa/Ilorin west at the green chamber have condemned the attacks saying that violence has no place in the new Kwara under the leadership of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazak.
