According to Too Xclusive, the ‘Aboki’ rapper, who is currently promoting his new single ‘Chike’ featuring Mavin’s Korede Bello, visited CoolFM radio station in Lagos. During the ‘Midday Oasis’ with Dotun and Temi, the rapper stated that his contract with Choc City expired two years ago, but due to his personal relationship with top management members of the label, he chose not to make it public. And now, he will be floating his own record label ‘Super Cool Cats.’

The radio station immediately tweeted the breaking story. See the tweets:

A quick check of Iceprince’s handle also revealed that he has updated his details to reflect his own record label.

This unprecedented move comes as a surprise because Ice Prince and M.I moved up the ranks in Chocolate City, from artistes to record label executives, after former CEO Audu Maikori stepped down. While the 28-year-old Iceprice whose real name is Panshak Zamani became the vice president, MI (Jude Abaga), rose to the role of chief executive officer.

It is unclear why Iceprince’s contract was not renewed, and most importantly, why he was moved up ranks when his contract already expired. The Chocolate City board is yet to issue a statement regarding this, though they severed ties with rapper Milli earlier this month.

We hope all is well with Chocolate City.
