IGP Receives Commendations As ‘Agent Of Change’ From Ex-Vice President, Ex-Governors, Traditional Rulers

The Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba’s performance has been adjudged exemplary by many stakeholders, former Vice President, former State governors, Traditional Rulers including State Chief Security Officers.

These special commendation was revealed in a recent 58 minutes documentary titled “Agent of Change” to showcase Usman Alkali Baba’s Two years in Office as the current substantive and 21st Nigerian Inspector General of Police. He was appointed by the President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari to replace Mohammed Adamu who retired from Nigeria Police Force in February 2021.

In the video, the Former Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo SAN, Former Governor of Rivers State, Ogun, Imo, Borno, Yobe, Gombe and some traditional rulers said Usman Alkali Baba has shown a necessary operational capacities for modern Police Force in a Challenge security landscape. 

Alkali Baba rose in ranks with in-depth experience in Operations, Investigations and Administration. He understands the challenges of the Force and how to fix them. 

Dan-Mallam Muhammed DIG DFA said “I can confidently tell you without any contradiction that we performed excellently with our amiable leader, Usman Alkali Baba and our working relationship is cordial and tasking. we have no issue than to see how we move police force forward.

Babagana Zulum, Borno State Governor said, “the Nigeria Police has started witnessing the reform since the assumption of Office of the present IGP Usman Alkali Baba 

In his word, Nyeson Wike, “I am not a praise singer but my experiences with former IGs since when i came into office in 2015 before the present IGP came was terrible but my experience with Usman Alkali Baba as the new IG shows that there are people who believe and committed to carrying out the assignment given to them professionally. so i am quite Impressed with the activities of the IGP Usman Alkali Baba.

The Ogun State governor  He is the man that have distinguish himself as an officer and a gentleman. By my own estimate the most humble IGP that i have ever met. This IGP has given me all the support to ensure that i reduce crime to an absolute minimum in Ogun State.

Hope Uzodima, Governor of Imo State said, Usman Alkali Baba is competent, responsible, proactive and he understand the meaning of National Interest. so he is just a good man and a capable Inspector General of Police.

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni said, “I respect him a lots because he is one of the most experienced police officer who become IG and he came at a time when Nigeria needed his services because he has brought his experience to bear because he has totally changed the Police Force in Nigeria.

Gombe State Governor Muhammed Inuwa Yahaya said IGP Usman Alkali Baba has done very well in terms of focusing on the face of the Nigeria Police Force in various challenges that are facing this country, be it banditry, be it rustling, ethnic religious crisis, regional and zonal crisis. The most important aspect Alkali Baba did is his synergy with other security agencies and everyone has seen the impact of his leadership within the security palace of this country.

Former Minister of Police Affairs, Dr Muhammed Maigari Dingyadi said, quite from what we have been seeing, Usman Alkali Baba has made a lot of renovations and improvement in police force and he is the right man for this job.

The Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akinolu also said Usman Alkali Baba has strived to make things better.

A former IGP, Chairman PSC, Solomon Arase said he will score him high, he has been able to restore some calm to erecting force. 

Femi Adesina, Former SA on Media to the Former President, the IGP has done very well in terms of providing security cover for the country, rising up to development, resting criminal activities.

Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar IBN Umar Garba said Usman Alkali Baba is the best among the Inspector General of Police.

Chairman, Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Haliru Dauda Jika said “He is one of the IGPs that always comply with the Appropriation act, Procurement act and fiscal of Respnsibility Act. He is result Oriented.
