Inye-Ankpa People Jubilate As Chief Of Army Staff Commissions Intervention Projects

It was jubilation galore in the community of Inye, Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, on Thursday, 8 May 2025, as the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, commissioned newly constructed 3 blocks of classrooms at Inye Primary School and a Primary Health Care Centre in the community.

The projects, executed by Major General Joseph Omali, a son of the community, under the Chief of Army Staff’s Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Project, aimed at fostering civil-military relations between the Nigerian Army and the public.

Speaking at the event, held at Inye Primary School field, the Chief of Army Staff, represented by the Commander 4 Special Forces Command, Major General Hilary Nzan, lauded Major General Joseph Omali’s remarkable contributions to the Nigerian Army, adding that it was a way of giving back to the community.

He described the project facilitator as highly industrious, who has earned both local and international admiration in recognition of his unblemished service to the Nigerian Army and the nation at large.

The Chief of Army Staff further stated that the intervention projects by the Nigerian Army were initiated to provide support to communities of Nigerian Army senior officers who, through dedication to duty and service to the nation, have risen to the enviable rank of Major General.

The Nigerian Army sees Nigerians as critical partners; hence, the need to sustain the initiative and complement the states in providing basic amenities and infrastructure for Nigerian communities.

The Chief of Army Staff also emphasized that the intervention projects are a means of appreciating the benefiting communities from which the senior officers hail for giving the nation their best to serve in the Nigerian Army, as well as to encourage them to continue supporting the service for more success in internal operations.

Furthermore, he thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his continuous strategic guidance and support to the Nigerian Army, and expressed gratitude to the people of Kogi State for their cooperation with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in making the state safe for all.

In his remarks, the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Nigerian Army, Major General Gold Chibuisi, said that the project is one of the Chief of Army Staff’s Special Intervention projects to cement civil-military cooperation, approved and funded by the Chief of Army Staff to support communities in need.

He noted that the project is expected to provide healthcare services to the community.

Earlier, in his welcome address, the project facilitator, Major General Joseph Omali, thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his quality leadership to the Nigerian Army, which he said led to successful operations recorded by the Nigerian Army under his command.

He also thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his support towards achieving the project and appealed to the Inye community to continue giving support to the Nigerian Army.

In his goodwill message, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Yakubu (II), Ejeh of Ankpa and Chairman, Ankpa Traditional Council, thanked the Chief of Army Staff for finding their illustrious son, Major General Joseph Omali, worthy.

He said the project is one of the immediate needs in the community and promised to support the Nigerian Army in their operations within his domain.

The President, Inye Community Development Association, Mr. Ebinehi Ogbadu, while giving the vote of thanks, saluted the Chief of Army Staff for his giant stride in beaming his searchlight on Inye through their son, Major General Joseph Omali, to bring succor and smiles to the people through the great achievement.

The event was attended by His Royal Highness, the Ejeh of Ankpa, the Onu of Inye, Onu of Ogodu, Major General SU Atawodi (Rtd), and Major General FS Owonibi (Rtd).

The high point of the event was the presentation of souvenirs to the Chief of Army Staff and other dignitaries.
