JUST IN: Dominic Oneya is dead

A former Chairman of then-Nigeria Football Association, NFA, now Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Brig. General Dominic Oneya (retired), has died.

Oneya’s passing was disclosed by Abubakar Aminu Ibrahim, SSA to the Kano State Governor on Social Media. He is reported to have died on Thursday, aged 73.

Oneya, whose origin is Agbarho, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State, was born in Apapa Local Government Area of Lagos state.

He was also an erstwhile military administrator of Kano State.

In July 2008, during the time he was football administrator, Oneya headed a team charged by the National Sports Commission with investigating allegations of corruption in the local league, in response to comments from former Kano Pillars coach Kadiri Ikhana.
