Kano Government Renames Hospital After Late Billionaire Philanthropist, Isyaku Rabi’u
The Kano State government has announced the renaming of a paediatric hospital after late billionaire, Isyaku Rabi’u, who passed on Tuesday.
Mr Rabi’u, who died at 93, was a foremost Kano businessman and Islamic cleric.
He died in London after a brief illness.
He was buried Friday in Kano after a funeral that was attended by Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.
A statement issued by the Kano State Commissioner for Information, Muhammed Garba, confirmed the renaming of Kano Paediatric Hospital to Khalifa Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u Paediatric Hospital.
Mr Garba said the state executive council decided to immortalise the late businessman for his immense contribution to the development of the state.
“Kano State Executive Council under the leadership of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has approved the renaming of Paediatric Hospital Zoo Road to Khalifa Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u Paediatric Hospital,” the statement read.
“The resolution reached by the Council during its last meeting on Thursday was aimed at immortalising late Khalifa Isyaku Rabi’u in recognition of his examplary life especially his immense contributions to the development of Qur’anic and Islamic education, philanthropic activities and general development of the state and beyond.
“While praying for the repose of the soul of the deceased, the Council has also pledged to continue to appreciate and honour deserving indigenes who offered selfless service to the development of the state and humanity in general in their respective fields of endeavour”.
The state government had on Wednesday declared a public holiday to honor the deceased.
