Kanye West Beats Michael Jackson’s Billboard Record; Fans Go Berserk

Kanye West has just recorded a major milestone in his music career and fans are not too happy about it.

Yesterday, Billboard revealed that the rapper has overthrown Michael Jackson on the Billboard charts with his 40th top 40 hit. Kanye was able to surpass Michael on the chart as a result of his feature on Schoolboy Q’s single That Part; beating the King of Pop who had 39 top 40 hits in his 40-plus year career.

Schoolboy Q’s That Part jumped from No. 42 to No. 40 on this week’s Hot 100 charts, making Kanye one of the top 10 male artists with the most Top 40 hits. Over the years, Kanye has been very vocal about Michael Jackson’s influence on his music career. He even compared himself to the late music icon in his 2013 song, I Am A God, saying he is “the only rapper compared to Michael.”

Now he has every right to brag about this!

Ye also made this statement in an interview with Ellen Degeneres earlier this year: “I have to  be the Michael Jackson of apparel in order to break open the doors for everyone that will come after I’m gone, after I’m dead, after they call me wacko Kanye.”

However, fans find the new grounds for comparison between Kanye and MJ very insulting and they are venting on Twitter.

This fan, however, had this to say:
