Kebbi Customs Reintroduces Health Checks, Weekly Drills for Officers’ Welfare
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Chidi Chukwumeziri, on Thursday 19 June, 2025 reintroduced routine medical check-ups and a weekly fitness exercise to boost officers’ health and morale in the fight against smuggling.
This is contained in a press statement signed on 20 June 2025 by Superintendent of Customs Mohammed Tajudeen, the Public Relations Officer of the Kebbi Area Command, on behalf of the Customs Area Controller.
According to the statement, Comptroller Chukwumeziri explained that the initiative aligns with the Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi’s vision of promoting a healthy work-life balance among officers.
He urged officers not to view the programme as a compulsory task but as an essential step to monitor their health status and detect possible health issues early.
“Henceforth, there will be a medical check-up every two weeks, as well as a compulsory weekly exercise, to strengthen the fighting spirit of officers and men of the command in delivering the core mandates of the Service effectively,” he said.
The event concluded with officers participating in various sporting activities, including football, basketball, table tennis, and other games.
