
Knowledge, Innovation and Problem-Solving Define Global Competitiveness — Army GOC
The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army (NA), Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, has emphasized the critical role of knowledge, innovation, and problem-solving in achieving global competitiveness. He made this known at a one-day Research, Development, and Innovation Exhibition Competition organized for Command Secondary Schools within the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The event, which took place on 18 June 2025 at Command Secondary School, Mbiri, Delta State, organized by 6 Division Education Services in honour of the President, Nigerian Army Officers Wives’ Association (NAOWA), Mrs. Mernan Femi Oluyede.
Represented by the Commander, 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Shonibare, the GOC stressed the need to train students not just to memorize facts but to think critically and apply knowledge to real-life problems. He noted that such initiatives help nurture their thoughts on national development through science and technology.
In her remarks, the President, NAOWA represented by Mrs Gift Nwaofor praised the competition’s theme, “Commanding the Future through Research and Critical Thinking,” describing it as timely and essential. She highlighted the importance of instilling curiosity, discipline, and creativity in young minds as part of NAOWA’s broader commitment to education and moral development within the NA community.
Earlier, the Acting Director, 6 Division, Education Services, Lt Col Prince Agbai, welcomed participants and affirmed the Division’s vision to equip students with not only academic knowledge but also innovative thinking skills that would contribute meaningfully to national growth and technological progress.
