Kogi varsity dean’s abductors demand N20m, wife bursts into tears

The abductors of the lecturer at the Kogi State University, Ayingba, Prof. John Alabi, has contacted his wife, demanding 20m for his release.

Prof. Alabi was kidnapped on Monday around 6pm by gunmen when he was about entering his apartment.

Alabi is the current Dean of Faculty Of Management Sciences in the Kogi State University.

It was gathered that the kidnappers came with a Mercedes benz car and whisked their victim away to an unknown destination.

A family source, who did not want his name to be mentioned, explained that the abductors have contacted the family and the management of Kogi State University.

The source said they called the wife of Dr Alabi and demanded for N20m.

He said, “When they called the wife of Dr Alabi, they told her that her husband is with them. And if she wants to see her husband alive, the family should pay the sum of N20m. Immediately, the wife started crying because the family can’t afford such amount of money.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State, DSP William Ovye Aya, confirmed the incident said the command was not leaving any stone unturned in rescuing the lecturer.
