Leicester Celebrate Ndidi as Arsenal, Man Utd Show Interest
Leicester City are already in a dilemma over the future of Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi signed to the club during the January transfer window.
This follows reports that Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United are set to lure the midfield jewel away from the King Power Stadium after a string of awe-inspiring displays for the revived Foxes in recent weeks.
Branded the new N’Golo Kante for his power-playing style, the midfielder already snubbed the Gunners in favour of a £17m move to Leicester, but it’s uncertain how long they can keep hold of him with the big boys all whipping out their cheque books for his signature.
The 20-year-old scored his second Leicester goal against Stoke at the weekend – a blistering strike from range – and Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare is very well aware of the bargain they got, Leicester Mercury reports.
“Our recruitment department should take a real pat on the back for that. We did a lot of homework on him and I think we were one of the first clubs, if not the first, to show an interest in him,” he said.
“I think he, and his family and agent, remembered that so we were in the driving seat. When other clubs came in for him he remembered the way we went about it first. He had other options.
“From what you’re seeing so far, we’ve got a good player on our hands.”
The player has said he’s happy at Leicester, but on evidence of his displays, it appears only a matter of time before he wants a bit more.
