‘Lions Don’t Recover like Humans’ – Zlatan Says on his Injury Update
Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Wednesday provided an update on his recovery from an acute knee injury in a manner that’s completely typical to him.
Ibrahimovic is set for a prolonged stint on the sidelines after rupturing his right anterior cruciate ligament during Manchester United’s Europa League quarter-final second leg tie against Anderlecht in April.
This has sparked fresh speculation about the future of the maverick Swede at Old Trafford having only arrived on a one-year deal from Paris Saint Germain last summer.
The 35-year-old has the option of a second year, but has to prove he is not a spent force at the highest level as United look to reclaim their place among Europe’s elites.
After taking England by storm with 28 goals in all competitions – including winners in the Community Shield and League Cup – a barefooted Ibrahimovic took to Instagram to provide updates on his recovery from injury in a way only he knows: by comparing himself to a lion!
“The touch will never disappear. Lions don’t recover like humans,” Zlatan wrote.
Well, that doesn’t come as a surprise from a player who once demanded that the Eiffel Tower be replaced with his statue.
As United turn to the transfer market in search of another striker ahead of the 2017/18 campaign, they may need to consider the little fact that lions and humans don’t always get along.
