Man dies, 6 Injured as Fire Engulfs Trump Tower in New York

One person has been killed and about six firefighters injured after a deadly fire broke out on the 50th floor of Trump Tower in New York.

Huge flames and billowing smoke could be seen coming out of a window on the New York landmark where United States President Donald Trump has a $100million penthouse apartment late Saturday.

First responders on the scene found a male resident, 67-year-old Todd Brassner, in critical condition and despite administering CPR, he died shortly after arriving at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital.

Fire crews rushed to the scene to battle the flames as burning debris fell onto the streets below, frightening residents and day trippers.

Four FDNY firefighters sustained non-life threatening injuries from smoke inhalation and are currently undergoing treatment.

FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro told a press conference “the apartment was virtually, entirely on fire” when firefighters arrived.

President Trump, who was not in the building today during the blaze, has an office in the Tower on the 26th floor and triplex penthouse apartments on floors 66 to 68.

He took to Twitter in the aftermath of the blaze to confirm it had been dealt with by emergency services.

His son, Eric Trump, also Tweeted his praise, writing: “Thank you to the amazing men and women of the NYFD who extinguished a fire in a residential apartment at Trump Tower.

“The New York fire and police departments are truly some of the most incredible people anywhere!”
