Real Madrid and Manchester City have cooled their interest in the midfielder, clearing the path for the Red Devils to re-sign a player Sir Alex Ferguson let go in 2012

Manchester United have launched an £80 million bid for Juventus and France star Paul Pogba, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The report claims that both Real Madrid and Manchester City have backed off in the race for the midfielder, who United let go in 2012, due to the size of the transfer fee Juventus are demanding.

But United are reportedly even willing to surpass the £86 million outlay Madrid forked out for Gareth Bale in 2013.

United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is set to travel back to Turin for further talks next week.

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a stunning £80million deal to re-sign Paul Pogba from Juventus.

The Daily Star say Pogba, 23, is in “advanced talks” to return to Old Trafford after Euro 2016.

It is claimed the main attraction for Pogba at United is manager Jose Mourinho, who has already played a key role in landing the services of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Juve midfielder Pogba left United in 2012 due to lack of first-team opportunities, with the Red Devils receiving a paltry £800,000 compensation fee for the Frenchman.
