The Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre (MLAILPKC) has successfully concluded its training activities for the year 2025 with the graduation of 37 participants of the Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) Course 38/25 and 25 Participants of the Middle Level Leadership (MLL) Course 7/25 for the Fourth Quarter 2025.

At a cocktail organized in honour of the graduating participants, on Thursday, 11 December 2025, the Centre’s Commandant, Major General Ademola Adedoja, congratulated the graduating participants and equally reflected on the Centre’s achievement in 2025, describing the year as highly successful. He reaffirmed MLAILPKC’s commitment to excellence and assured continued improvement in it’s training activities through sustained support from Army Headquarters and collaboration with strategic partners. He added that the Centre has already commenced preparation for the year 2026 training programme.

The Commandant further disclosed that between the first and fourth quarter of the year, the Centre conducted 33 Individual Specialist Courses, building the capacities of over 900 participants drawn from the Military, Police, Paramilitaries, government agencies and NGOs. He also noted that the Centre conducted three streams of Pre-Deployment Training (PTD) for troops of the Nigerian Armed Forces that were deployed to Abiye, Gambia and Guinea Bissau for peacekeeping missions, emphasizing that the training curriculum of the center is in line with the United Nations (UN) Core Pre-Deployment Training Materials (CPTM).

Addressing the DDR and MLL graduants, during the graduation ceremony on Friday, 12 December 2025 at the Maimalari Hall, MLAILPKC Jaji, the Commandant underscored the importance of training, especially given the complexity of contemporary peacekeeping environments. He said effective execution of DDR programmes and application of leadership skills remain crucial to addressing the root courses of conflict in the African sub-region and achieving sustainable peace.

He expressed confidence that the two-week training has exposed participants to essential skills, tools and expertise required to become experts in their respective fields. He said the training involved theoretical and practical sessions as well as real-world simulation exercises. The Commandant commended the participants’ zeal to learn and their performances throughout the duration of the training, urging them to fully utilize the knowledge acquired to enhance their professional competencies and contribute positively in their various organizations.

Major General Adedoja applauded the dedication of the centre’s facilitators and staff towards ensuring that the participants are well trained. He further appreciated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu for his continuous support in providing the centre with the required resources and sustaining its status as a regional hub of Excellence in peacekeeping training.
