‘They Messed Up My Shoot!’ – Omoni Oboli Starts Campaign to Stop Lagos Area Boys From Harassing Filmmakers
Omoni Oboli has kicked off a campaign against touts who always disrupt the works of filmmakers shooting their projects in Lagos suburbs.
Yesterday, the actress took to her social media to share the video of her new battle with a handful of Lagos touts who disrupted her movie set yesterday, demanding that the actress must part with some sum.
“I am totally fed up! Shooting in Lagos State is such a difficult experience. I’ve been settling area boys everyday yet they still fight us. The other day, they broke a bottle to stab my crew and seized my van key. You have to settle different factions. I’m a tax paying citizen of Lagos State. As filmmakers, we pay taxes even on a loss,” the actress captioned the disturbing video of her team members clashing with the ‘area boys’, and then she begged fans to retweet the story until it catches the attention of the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
In response to a fan’s commiserating tweet, Omoni Oboli then added that the touts successfully ‘messed up’ her shoot yesterday.
This has drawn the attention of Nigerians on the platform, including filmmakers, one of who revealed that he has desisted from shooting in Lagos suburbs due to similar occurrence.
“I’ve stopped filming exteriors in Lagos, the area boys are too much,” Imoh Umoren said. And another tweeter noted that his team at O&G had to engaged the touts using armed forces.
The Lagos State Governor is yet to react to the trending story, however it has drawn massive attention as Nigerians are now calling out the government for ignoring the tremendous rise of area boys in the state.
