Military Secretary Holds Career Sensitization Lecture For Officers In 1 Division

On 3 March 2025, the Military Secretary (Army) MS(A), Major General Everest Ifeanyi Okoro, delivered a sensitization lecture on career development for officers in 1 Division Nigerian Army Area of Responsibility. The event which was held at the Headquarters 1 Division Auditorium in Kaduna, was aimed at providing military strategic guidance and insight into career development and prospects in the Nigerian Army.

In his welcome remarks, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander Sector 1 North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso, represented by the Division’s Chief of Staff, Brigadier General David Nwakonobi, underscored the importance of the sensitization lecture in the career planning and professional development of the Nigerian Army Officers serving in military establishments within the Division’s Area of Responsibility. He further emphasized the need for the officers to be engaged in self-assessment, set realistic goals, and identify necessary steps for the advancement of their chosen career.

The GOC also commended the Army Headquarters Department of Military Secretary for initiating the lecture, noting that such initiative facilitates informed decision-making and support the career progression of officers. He encouraged the participants to leverage available opportunities for professional growth, including attendance of requisite courses, passing promotion examinations, and meeting other established requirements.

Major General Okoro’s lecture provided valuable insights into the Nigerian Army’s policies and procedures governing officers career development. The event also featured interactive session, during which participants engaged in discussions and sought clarifications from the guest lecturer on matters related to their career development and prospects.

The objectives of the lecture also aligned with the Chief of Army Staff’s commitment and his command philosophy to always support the professional development of Nigerian Army personnel towards enhancing operational efficiency. The lecture was attended by unprecedented number of officers from various military units, formations and establishments within the 1 Division Area of Responsibility. Highlights of the event included exchange of souvenirs and group photographs.
