Minister of Defence Condoles Nigerian Troops Over Killing Of Colleagues In Okouma, Vows To Bring Killers To Justice
The Honourable Minister of Defence (HMOD) Mohammed Badaru Abubakar today 21 March 2024 visited Headquarters 1 Division Nigerian Army (NA) Kaduna during which he extended his heartfelt condolences to officers and men of the NA over the sad and barbaric killing of their comrades in Okuoma Community of Delta State by some criminals.
In his words” I want to start by condoling you over the unfortunate death of our gallant men that were butchered by some idiots. We are going to get them and we are going to deal with them. You don’t kill our men and survive, you don’t kill our men and go scot free. We will find them and deal with them.” He said.
He appreciates and expressed his sincere thanks to the troops for their selfless service and efforts at securing the nation. He commended them for the sleepless nights they keep to ensure that citizens and and indeed all Nigerians are safe and protected from all the enemies of the State. He reiterated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to end the current insecurity situation bedevilling some parts of the country and reassured the troops of the President’s continuous support to the NA and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
He charged the troops to redouble their efforts, fighting will, strength and determination so as to bring the fight against banditry, terrorism, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other crimes to a lasting end. He added that he is fully aware of ongoing troops operation to rescue the abducted Kuriga School Children and reassure the general public particularly the families of abuductees that their wards will soon be rescued and reunited with them.
The Honourable Minister charged the troops to keep their morale high and reassured them of the President, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces continuous support at all times.
Highpoints of the visit were a befitting quarter guard for the HMOD, a detailed brief on activities of 1 Division/OPWP, HMOD’s address to troops and a group photographs.
